Marco Mezquida (Solo)

INNOVATIVE APPROACH

Born in 1987 in Menorca, Marco Mezquida, the versatile pianist, improviser, and composer, embodies musical passion and is celebrated as one of the most vibrant figures in the Spanish jazz scene. Described as a "prodigy," "piano wizard," and "magnetic," he has earned multiple accolades, including being named Musician of the Year four times by the "Asociación De Músicos de Jazz y Moderna de Cataluña." Recipient of the BMW Welt Jazz Award, both from the jury and audience, Mezquida's solo piano concerts resemble one-man orchestras, featuring joyous performances and musical experiments. His innovative approach includes incorporating sounds directly from piano strings, creating unique textures. With a captivating blend of harmonies, vitality, and influences from tangos, flamencos, and bulerias, Mezquida infuses his music with a special touch of folklore. While rooted in Modern Jazz, he goes beyond traditional influences, showcasing his inventive musical style. Collaborating with international flamenco and jazz artists, Mezquida transcends genre boundaries, presenting a remarkably diverse range of expressions.
