After winning awards (jury and audience prize) at last year's BMW Welt Jazz Award, Marco Mezquida is now presenting his new project "Tornado". Together with Masa Kamaguchi on double bass and Ramon Prats on drums, the pianist has formed a trio and teamed up with old companions. The three have been friends for many years and have spent many hours on stage and on the road together.

With the album title "Tornado", Marco Mezquida links the energy that arises between the three artists in their newly created repertoire. Quiet passages reminiscent of "calm before the storm" are replaced by eruptive, creative outbursts in the collective. The programme had its first preview at the Mercat de Música Viva de Vic, where it wowed the audience. "Tornado" will be officially premiered in Madrid and Barcelona at the end of October, before the album will be available on CD.

Between his last album "Letter to Milos" and the work on his new programme, Mezquida spent a very intense summer, which included outstanding performances on major stages such as the North Sea Jazz Festival, the Jazzopen Stuttgart, Schubertíada, Torroella de Montgrí, the Big Night of Marco Mezquida at the Kulturarena Jena and many more. In November, he will perform a duet concert with the living legend Michel Camilo at the Festival de Jazz de Barcelona.
